Founded in 1990, the vocal group “Le Chant sur la Lowé” is a mixed amateur choir counting about thirty members. Its vocation is to promote high quality vocal practice beyond the traditional ecclesiastical setting, hence reaching the secular circles in Gabon and beyond its
borders. Furthermore, its aim is to popularize the Gabonese musical heritage through the
interpretation of a diverse array of Gabonese folksongs in all the languages of the country.
Its uniqueness also translates into its folkloric costumes and its signature choreographies
which represent the rich Gabonese cultural heritage.
Le Chant sur la Lowé regularly gives public concerts and various private performances.
The group has indeed represented Gabon at several international events and festivals
abroad:
1991 and 1992: Two-time back-to-back winner of the Elf-Gabon Grand Prix
1994: 21 st ISME Conference in Tampa, Florida
International Choral Festival in Atlanta, Georgia
1997: International Eisteddfodd in Johannesburg, South Africa ,Gold medal in the Folksongs category
2000: Choral Olympics in Linz, Austria
